A Season for Everything

I’m baaaaack! (Insert evil, spine chilling laugh here.)

I’ve been gone for 6 months. I swore I wouldn’t come back. Yeah, right. I may be rusty and my skills may have lost their edge since my days as a journalism student, but I still have the heart and soul of a writer. That means the compulsion to put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) cannot be ignored. You, dear reader, at least have the option to ignore the drivel that spews forth. Please feel free to exercise it when necessary.

So, what brings me back you foolishly ask? Midlife. My midlife, that is. I turned 41 the other day. No hoopla. It just came and went, but the months and events leading up to it have been building an excitement in me. This is a new season. My season. My son graduated from high school in June and left for adult life in July. He is living in his own apartment, attending school and holding down a job with disgusting ease. (Pause to pat my own back on a mothering job well done.) My daughter became an “official” teenager in July. I say official because she’s been acting like one for years. My husband’s job has begun to take him out of town and for the first time in my adult life I’m living by myself (well, sort of). Next up is heading back to school to get my real estate license. Everything has been changing and is still changing and I’m excited about where life might take me next. I’m back because I want to chronicle this season.
